Bodecker Foundation Figure Drawing Workshop Collection

OVERVIEW

Over the summer, I dove into a beginner figure drawing class, exploring the fundamentals of the human form. Across six days, I experimented with block shading, perspective, and working on an easel, pushing myself to see shapes, lines, and shadows in new ways. Each day, I brought home drawings that not only improved my skills but also captured my approach and creative perspective on figure drawing.

MEDIUM AND TECHNIQUE

During the camp, we worked with a variety of materials, including ink, charcoal, pencils, markers, brushes, and paper, and used easels, erasers, and live models as references.

On the last day, we moved our easels to the central area of the building and had our art teacher, Krya, as a live model. We spent about 30 minutes on quick warm-up sketches before moving on to two-hour poses, which allowed us to focus on more detailed and expressive figure drawings.

This piece was one of my favorites and came from one of our two-hour poses. I focused on keeping the drawing clean while using white pencil to highlight certain areas and add depth.
