Quilted Bucket Bag
OVERVIEW
The Quilted Bucket Bag is a soft, open-top bag inspired by classic patchwork quilting. It was the very first piece I ever made and started in a sewing class, where I learned the basics of working with fabric and a machine. Its wide, rounded shape makes it easy to use as a casual everyday bag or even as storage for small items. The patchwork design brings together different fabrics and patterns, giving it a one-of-a-kind look that feels handmade and personal.
FABRIC AND TECHNIQUE
This bag was created by cutting fabric squares and sewing them together into a quilted pattern. I combined different textures and prints in neutral and brown tones, including checks, florals, and solids. The inside is lined with a soft fabric, and side handles make it easy to carry. Making this in class taught me how to measure, cut, use interfacing, and piece fabrics carefully so the squares matched before sewing them into a bucket shape. As my first project, it showed me how everyday scraps of fabric could be turned into something useful, and made me realize I loved sewing bags.
